You can export data from Microsoft Dynamics NAV to other programs, such as Microsoft Office Word or Excel.

You can export data from card windows and lists. You can also export data from a report to other programs. For more information, see How to: View and Print Reports.

For example, if you want to analyze a budget or the inventory valuation, you can send the relevant data to Excel to further process the data. For more information, see How to: Open Pages in Excel. You can also configure Microsoft Dynamics NAV so that you can send data to Microsoft OneNote. For more information, see Integrating with Microsoft OneNote

Before you can export data, an administrator must set up a style sheet for the program that you want to export to. There are default style sheets installed with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, which can be used to export any page to Word or Excel. You can also add new style sheets. For more information, see How to: Manage Style Sheets.

To send data to other programs

  1. Open the window that contains the data that you want to export, for example, a customer card.

  2. In the Application menu, choose Print & Send, and then choose Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word.

The program that you selected opens and a new document is created with the exported data.

If you have configured Microsoft Dynamics NAV to use Microsoft Office 365, data is sent to Office Online. If you have Office installed, you can then open the document in the full version of Excel or Word. For more information, see Integrating with Office 365 and SharePoint Online.
